Geotag your Photographs
Trackstick devices are specifically aimed at Geo-tagging user acquired photographs using Trackstick Manager which arguably is the most advanced Geotagging and GPS tracking Program in the World.
Geotagging user acquired photographs using Trackstick Manager
Geo-tagging is the process of adding geographical identification (geospatial) meta-data to various media. This metadata usually consists of latitude and longitude coordinates, but can also include altitude, bearing, and location names.
Geo-tagging in Trackstick Manager can help users find a wide variety of location-specific information. For instance, you can find photographs taken near a given location by entering the latitude and longitude coordinates of that location.
JPEG-photos With JPEG photos the Geo-tag-information is typically embedded in the meta-information <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metadata> (typically as EXIF-data <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exchangeable_image_file_format> or XMP-data <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extensible_Metadata_Platform> . These data aren't visible in the picture itself but are read and written by special programs and most digital cameras <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_camera> and modern scanners <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_scanner> .
Synchronizing with Trackstick Most digital cameras sold today do not contain a built-in GPS receiver; however, an external location-aware device, such as Trackstick, can still be used with a non-GPS digital camera for geocoding. The photo is taken without geographical information and is processed later using Trackstick Manager in conjunction with the GPS data. Timestamps made by the camera can be compared to timestamps in Trackstick, provided that the clocks in the separate devices can be synchronized. The resulting coordinates can then be added to the EXIF information of the photo. You can thus
- View your photos on a map like Google Earth.
- Search for your photos based on location.
- Find other photos that were taken in a similar area.
- Automatically create descriptions of your photos based on how other people describe theirs of the same place.
- Use all of those photos to construct 3D models of your holiday.
